Through this joint venture (JV), the Group plans construction of projects in the sectors of expressways and airports.
The Homes business line involves a wide range of products including condominiums, duplexes, row hoses and apartments of varying sizes, with a focus on the higher end of the market. DLF’s Office segment is one of the group’s most admired vertical. DLF believes that the following are its primary competitive strengths:
Brand name and reputation: DLF has a 60-year history of service excellence. Since it was founded in 1946, it has been responsible for the development of 22 urban colonies, as well as an entire integrated 3,000-acre township - DLF City.
DLF’s reputation for providing prompt payment to landowners upon the acquisition of its land, developing and completing projects in a timely manner and conducting its business with transparency has created a relationship of trust with its customers and suppliers. DLF retains internationally and nationally renowned architectural, construction and consulting firms for its projects.
Extensive land reserves: The company recognizes that extensive land reserves are the most important resource for a real estate developer. We have extensive land reserves in various regions across India, amounting to 13,000 acres. Our land reserves comprise a developable area of approximately 615 million square feet, of which 44 million square feet is under construction.
Scale of operations: The company’s size allows it to benefit from economies of scale. DLF is able to purchase large plots of land from multiple sellers, thus enabling it to aggregate land at lower prices. The size of its balance sheet provides it with the ability to actively acquire land, adjust the scale of DLF’s projects and retain rather than sell its developments in the event of an economic downturn.
Strategic locations: DLF’s projects are strategically located. The company believes that its ability to anticipate market trends and, in some cases, to influence the direction of these trends, provides it with the expertise to choose strategic locations.
A tradition of innovation: DLF has a tradition of innovation in the Indian real estate market. It is one of the first developers to anticipate the need for townships on the outskirts of fast growing cities and is generally credited with the growth of Gurgaon. The company is one of the early developers to focus on developing theme-based projects such as The Magnolias in DLF City. DLF continually offers its customers new designs and concepts.
Experienced and dedicated management: The Company has an experienced, highly qualified and dedicated management team, many of whom have over 20 years of experience in their respective fields. DLF provides its staff with competitive compensation packages and a corporate environment that encourages responsibility, autonomy and innovation.

Recognizing the basic need to approach the issue of planned development and growth across the Residential, Commercial and Retail segments of the Real Estate Industry, we at DLF believe that the key element of this transformation is change – a change from within and without.
Guided by the profound thought expressed by the Father of the Nation, "Each of us must be the change we want to see in the world", we have endeavored to commit ourselves to providing comprehensive solutions to all our valued customers across the Real Estate Industry; solutions that combine high-end technology, design and aesthetics and meet customer aspirations and expectations through superior standards of performance and service.
With this as our founding philosophy, the Group is confident of establishing a national leadership position in all its areas of businesses. Business growth apart, the Group is also intensely committed to playing a key role in discharging its social obligations by adhering to specified norms of legal, environmental and ethical practices. The aim is for DLF as Group to be a professional and responsive corporate entity, which positively transforms the quality of life of society at large.
History
The DLF Group was founded in 1946. We developed some of the first residential colonies in Delhi such as Krishna Nagar in East Delhi, which was completed in 1949. Since then we have been responsible for the development of many of Delhi’s other well known urban colonies, including South Extension, Greater Kailash, Kailash Colony and Hauz Khas.
Following the passage of the Delhi Development Act in 1957, the state assumed control of real estate development activities in Delhi, which resulted in restrictions on private real estate colony development. We therefore commenced acquiring land at relatively low cost outside the area controlled by the Delhi Development Authority, particularly in the district of Gurgaon in the adjacent state of Haryana.
This led to our first landmark real estate development project – DLF Qutab Enclave, which has now evolved into DLF City. DLF City is spread over 3,000 acres in Gurgaon and is an integrated township, which includes residential, commercial and retail properties in a modern city infrastructure with schools, hospitals, hotels and shopping malls. It also boasts of the prestigious DLF Golf and Country Club with night golfing facilities.
Logo: Our Ethos
The pyramid symbol and the mission line 'Building India’ is collectively referred to as the DLF Logo.
The company's name is represented in black capital letters. The typeface represents the solidity of the enterprise; emphasizes accountability, responsibility as being a strong and integral part of the Group's ethos.
The pyramid depicts nine smaller pyramids; each composes itself into a larger pyramid all-encompassing in nature and presentation. The pyramid itself and the component pyramids convey cohesion, interdependence, support and foundation, to a common purpose and to achieve greater heights.
The words ’BUILDING INDIA’, is in capitals like the company’s name, and at once conveys DLF’s mission and vision. It is an intrinsic reflection of the Group’s commitment and its 60-year heritage.
About Us
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at DLF is a harmonized mix of welfare initiatives for the benefit of the communities in which the group operates - both the underprivileged as well as the privileged sections. It has been a constant endeavor at DLF to empower the underprivileged through various planned interventions. The components of our CSR initiatives include:
CONSTRUCTION WORKERS: Labour & Site Management
The construction workers at DLF sites, who are our immediate stakeholders and a key resource for any development, are looked after well and provided with all basic facilities at the site itself. The labor hutments are a mix of cemented family rooms and dormitories provisioned with electricity, fans, beds and linen. The roads are all paved and the cleanliness quotient of the area is truly high. The contract for housekeeping including sanitation for the area is taken care of by an independent agency. In addition, there is a separate toilet block and washing area. Moreover, facilities like a subsidized canteen, 24-hour medical help and organization of mobile crèches to take care of the children - eight hours a day - are all part of the setup. One of such sites also houses a residential non-profit school in carpentry and masonry for training potential employees.
RURAL INTERVENTIONS: Towards better living conditions
DLF has played an instrumental role in:
EDUCATION: The foremost priority
Education comes next. Besides running a formal school called the Summerfield School in DLF Phase-I, DLF also runs a small informal school for the underprivileged called the Swapana Sarthak School, which runs classes through its trained volunteers for the segment that cannot afford regular schools as well as provides a mid-day meal for all children studying therein.
ENVIRONMENT: Preservation for a better tomorrow
DLF has installed a one-of-its-kind gas-based power generation system at the Infinity Tower. Co-generation is also a part of this installation as we are utilizing the waste heat for air-conditioning and are in effect saving about 25% of power. Moreover, DLF is in the process of switching its street lighting system to 36 watts CFL with electronic choke thereby saving 15 to 20 watts per street light. As regards the environment, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has consistently over the last five years awarded DLF with ‘Excellence in Horticulture Preservation’.
